di kedai farmasi..

In the name of ALLAH The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Highest thankful and appreciation to Almighty God for allowing us to breathe again up to this very moment.

Thanks ALLAH, today I ended my second part of community posting during my relax, less-pressure, long, leisure and pleasure 3 months semester break holiday before I start my 3rd year of my undergraduates life. Life unexpectedly moves so fast as in a blink of an eye.

I started my posting on 31st of May until 3rd of June. Have a week break due to school holiday as my boss when for balik kampung and complete another week from 14th of June until 20th of June.

Apart from attending community pharmacy I also went to clinic to get 50 prescriptions. ~ okay, not actually really going to clinic~ I went to met the pharmacist which happen to be my mum’s friend and here I got, a BUNCH of prescription.

The second part of community posting exposed me a lot of community pharmacy life. I indulge myself in OTC (over the counter- medicines that are not exclusively find in pharmacy alone but also can be bought at kedai runcit kampung,Mydin Mall etc such as panadol, ubat batuk cap ibu dan anak) and hard to decipher doctor’s handwriting prescription.

My boss, known as Encik Yusof is a soft spoken middle aged man with 8 kids and A wife. First, I called him but he never being at his shop ( it easy to do business, you can come anytime you want.huhu~) En. Yusof bleh x sy wat posting sini sekali lg ? (I already menyibuk at his shop last year. I love to come here because I can come and go back anytime I want. I LIKE, I LIKE..his workers are kind hearted and friendly and knowledgeable ‘bout all drugs and stuff in the shop (malu je, they know far, far, far better than me!)

The first day I came. It was 2 pm. You want to start today or tomorrow?. Esok lah, I said. Okay, I want to pick up my kids from school now. (buat business senang, anak2 pun terjaga..promoting community pharmacy..huu~)

The next day I came boss explain everything regarding the first part of my posting requirement: Dispensing Service. Bla, bla, bla, bla…face to face lecture for more than 2 hours. End at 12 noon I hurriedly drove my family back to Kuala Terengganu. My aunty peacefully passed away. Al- Fatihah. May ALLAH bless her for all her kindness and reward her paradise. Amen.

The next day and onwards on that week I went there and do nothing except for observing people (best pastu bosan :p ). Customer comes and go, workers busy doing errands and serve customer. It quiet interesting =

Ubat ni buleh make’ dgn budu dok?

Mek, acu hulur ubat hok warno hijau 5 ya sutir tu..

Wat mari ubat sakit urat… (lepas siap bungkus)..eh, x se hok ni..wat mari hok molek sekali, mahal pun x po.

Prescriptions are not really useful in pharmacy shop. Customers come and only ask ‘glibenclamide please’

Customers stick to the stigma that the cheaper the medicine, less effective it will be.

Customers also trust you.

Molek ko ubat batuk ni?

Molek..

Ok, beli.

Customers are well informed and they need your help:

Customer: I need advice regarding something, I read this article, I think I possess the symptoms stated. I am having arthritis but still at early stage I believe. I am taking traditional preparation but I afraid it contains steroid bcoz it really makes me feel better. Do you have anything to say?

Pharmacist: we don’t have medicine for arthritis yet. I can only give you pain- killer.

Customer: it’s ok then but this herbal medicine really trouble me.

Pharmacist: let me have a look, oh I am not quite sure, it’s not stated here but you can take glucosamine as a supplement.

Customer: oh ya, glucosamine, I read about it somewhere..what is it actually? A glucose?

Facing well- knowledge patients/ customers you will bombarded with thousands of questions. Be prepared!

The next week I didn’t go to the pharmacy. Boss said he want to balik kampung. It’s a school holiday and he asks me to come back another coming week, Okay boss!

Next week I came, boss is not here.

Sunday- no

Monday-no

Tuesday-no

Wednesday- no… ops, but he called me. Boss: Oh my God, I am really sorry I forget about you (me: ahah, interesting! Forget about me luckily I still cross your mind in the middle of the week. Haa~)

He asks me to come back next Sunday. Don’t worry boss, I have a lot to do here. I have long list of OTC products to be determine. Have a nice holiday & save journey. (hee~ sure, I am a polite young girl) ;p

Next Sunday, I queued to meet him along with another salesman. Salesman always come to sell their products..ohaa. I finally manage to see him. He deciphers all the prescriptions. It is truly awesome, doctor’s handwriting is definitely WORST! I can’t believe myself my boss can read it.

To future doctors please improve your handwriting and makes pharmacist life easier. Together we make this world a better place to live. Yeay!!

Decipher the prescriptions, discuss about it legal requirement, drug dosage, polypharmacy (same indication of drugs being prescribed in the same prescription), drug- drug interaction and many more. (Read my report if you can bear it.hehe~)

Next OTC products: I read out all products I determined and I mixed up poison & OTC..urgh, need to do it again.

Me: antihistamine CLARITYNE

Boss: no, poison

Me: weight control XENICAL

Boss: no, poison

Me: external analgesic VOREN PLUS GEL

Boss: no, poison…my, my al poisons items are in the mirror and I locked it. Don’t get confused.

Me: arggggggghhhh!!

Okay, I end up until today.

Shall come again to submit my report.

Thank you En. Yusof for valuable knowledge. Thanks also to all his workers for helping me a lot, kak wani, kak ti, kak dah =)

Now here I am: not completing my report yet. This report sure curse me…eeerggghh. semangat2!siapkan report!

“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.”

p/s: happy coz finally write something for my blog.he

You Gave So Much To Me

Mom and Dad, I wonder if
You know how much I care.
I got the good things, all I have,
Because you both were there.

I thank you for the time you spent,
Doing all you did.
You help me now; you helped me then
When I was just a kid.

Unselfish, giving, loving, more...
You gave so much to me.
Without you, Mom and Dad, I don’t
Know what on earth I’d be.

Thank you for the way you are,
Like angels from above;
I thank you both for everything,
And give you all my love.
